Our GWB Commission Arts and Entertainment Award recipient this yeas is none other than our international superstar ballerina Ms. Michaela DePrince. Michalea Deprince was born in Sierra Leone in 1995 and was later adopted by her parents Elaine and Charles DePrince escaping war torn Sierra Leone and an orphanage where she was often maltreated.

With the love and support of her parents, Michaela was enrolled into Rock School for Dance Education in Philadelphia, she later graduated from The American Ballet Theatre’s Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis School. Her ascent to stardom in the ballet world has been a fast one, if not typical. At 17, she was featured in a documentary film “First Position and has performed on the TV-show “Dancing With the Stars”, and now works for The Dance Theatre of Harlem. Michaela has just returned from South Africa starring in the play “Don Quixote” as Kitri Michaela has been featured in numerous publications such as CNN, The Huffington Post, Teen Vogue, ABC News, and much more.
